About Charlotte
Small talk gets a bad name, and I think that is unfair. Two strangers chatting about the rain, the traffic or the awful coffee at the airport: that is how people start to relax. I happen to be rather good at it. Ask me anything you like. After years of holiday questions, very little surprises me.
I'm Charlotte, 28, from London. I work in Mumbai for a travel company, so my days go on sorting out other people's holidays, and I live in Colaba, a short walk from the sea.
You'll know me by the blonde hair and the summer dress. In London I hardly ever got to wear them. Here it is summer nearly every day, so my wardrobe has quietly filled up with cotton and colour. I do miss London sometimes, mostly the parks and a proper cup of tea. Then I watch the sun go down by the Gateway and the feeling passes.
People find me easy to be with. I'm warm, I don't sulk, and I'm not shy about asking questions. If you're new to Mumbai, I can tell you where to eat in Colaba and which tourist traps to skip. If you've lived here all your life, you can tell me where I've been going wrong.
The bookings that suit me best have a bit of conversation in them. A drink in your room, a long chat, and then whatever the evening becomes. Four hours is perfect for that. At ₹20,000 it never feels rushed. Fancy keeping me till morning? A full night finishes at 6 AM, which by London standards is barely a lie-in, but still lovely.
South Mumbai is my patch, so Colaba, Fort, Churchgate and Nariman Point are easy. I'm happy to head north to the suburbs too. Thane or Vashi I'll gladly do, though those trips can carry a modest travel charge; you'll get the figure from the desk beforehand, so it's never a surprise. Message the desk with my name, the time, your hotel and your room number. You pay me once I'm there, by cash or UPI, whichever is easier. Honestly, I think we'll get on.
